FAQ´s

1. Is this a good tour for kids?

Kids love this trip. There is a lot of variety on this tour with many short drives leading to a variety of activities, so it tends to hold the interest of younger visitors. Peekaboo Canyon is beautiful and FUN to play in. Even in the summer months, it remains relatively cool inside the canyon. The tall canyon walls also contain kids so it’s virtually impossible for them to wander off. We’ll visit a world class dinosaur site. What kid doesn’t like dinosaurs? Be prepared for a brief science lesson or two, but don’t worry, it won’t feel like school. We’ll also visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes where kids can run up and down the dunes and roll around in the sand. (Some of our guides do that too.) Be ready for them to come home sandy, happy and tired.

2. What will we see on the Ultimate Kanab tour?

The Ultimate Kanab Tour is essentially all of our Kabab Tours melded into one huge Southern Utah outdoor adventure tour. We visit the Peekaboo Slot Canyon, The White Wave w/petroglyphs, The Coral Pink Sand Dunes, The South Fork Indian Canyon Pictographs or the Rosy Canyon Petroglyphs, The Dinosaur Tracksite, and Red Knoll.

3. How hard is the hiking on the Ultimate Kanab tour?

All of the hikes are short. Hiking is quite easy at Peekaboo Slot Canyon, Red Knoll and the Dinosaur Track site. The walk at the White Wave requires a short uphill trek in soft sand and the walk to the back of the butte where there are petroglyphs requires good footing and balance. The hike at Rosy Canyon Petroglyphs has a couple of short, steep sections the require mild scrambling. Some guests choose to sit out the challenging parts, most of the day is easy.

4. Is Peekaboo Canyon good for photography? May I bring my tripod?

Photographers relish the challenge of the ever changing light in Peekaboo and even amatures with iPhones come away with stunning images. We encourage photography on our trips and our tour allows about 2 hours in the slot canyon if needed. Tripods, GoPros and gimbals are welcome. Photographers are encouraged to linger behind the group to set up their perfect shots. It’s a slot canyon, so you really can’t get lost.

5. Are there bathrooms on this tour?

We will drive by a couple of pit toilets on this tour. Let your guide know if you need to stop. There are times when we are away from pit toilets for a few hours. At any time, you may duck behind a tree or bush for privacy. Bury all solid waste. Guides carry toilet paper, hand wipes and plastic bags in each truck. Do not leave any trash on the ground. Paper must be bagged up and can be discreetly discarded into the trash bag at the truck.

6. Are drones allowed on this tour?

This tour visits several locations. Drones are allowed at many of the locations. Some of them are better for flying a drone than others. When operating a drone on tours, please be mindful of other guests on the tour and other hikers who may be in the area. Others seek remote locations for the solitude. Please do not fly drones close to other people and limit the amount of time the drone is in the air. Always follow instructions from your guide.
