Sunset Flight Over Canyonlands: See Dead Horse Point, Hidden Arches, and Red Rock Canyons Glow in Golden Light

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Utah’s canyon country as the desert glows in the golden light of sunset. This evening flight showcases the dramatic landscapes surrounding Canyonlands National Park, revealing a world of red cliffs, winding rivers, and hidden arches that come alive in the fading light.

Soar above Dead Horse Point, Thelma and Louise Point, Gemini Bridges, and the striking blue Potash Ponds, with views of Kane Creek Canyon, Corona Arch, and other natural wonders tucked deep in the backcountry. Watch as the last rays of sunlight ignite the sandstone in brilliant shades of orange and rose before twilight softens the horizon over Castle Valley and Fisher Towers.

Important Information:

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Sunset flight different?

Light. Golden hour paints the canyons in warm tones and long shadows—textures pop, colors deepen, and every bend in the river looks cinematic.

Will I still see everything clearly near sunset?

Departure times are planned to give you clear daylight views transitioning into that dramatic evening glow. However, not every evening boats spectacular sunsets. Most of the time sunsets are vibrant, casting golden light across the entire area, while others are more muted due to clouds. Either way, you’ll still be able to see the views clearly.

Where do we meet and when should we arrive?

Yes. The scenery changes constantly, and the time flies by (pun intended). Many guests say this is where they finally “get” Canyonlands.

Where do we meet and when should we arrive?

Canyonlands Regional Airport (about 18 miles north of Moab). Arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled departure; free parking at the terminal.

What is the airplane size & seating?

Your scenic flight will operate in a small, fixed-wing aircraft set up for small groups; every seat is a window seat. Planes generally fit 3 to 9 passengers.

Do we wear headsets? Is there narration?

Yes, comfortable headsets with pilot commentary are provided, so you’ll know exactly what you’re seeing as the light shifts.

Are there bathrooms on the plane?

There are no bathrooms on these smaller planes. Please use the terminal restrooms before the air tour departs.

What if clouds or weather roll in?

If conditions aren’t suitable for flying, we’ll work with you to find another departure that fits your trip.

I’m motion-sensitive—will sunset be okay?

Many motion-sensitive guests prefer earlier flights; if evening is your only slot, focusing on the horizon and steady breathing helps. The flight duration is still around an hour.

Can I pair the Sunset Flight with other activities the same day?

Yes\! Many guests explore Arches or raft the Colorado River earlier, then cap the day with views of spectacular canyons and mesas at golden hour. We can help you fit it all together.
