Sun Studios

Next, we’re off to learn what accident set Rock ‘n’ Roll in motion at Sam Phillips’ famedSun Studios in the heart of Downtown Memphis. Take a guided tour to see what therecording process used to be like. Hear the stories of how many legends got theirstart here, such as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and the King himself,Elvis Presley.

• The Sun Studios building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2003,therefore major renovations cannot be made to the studio. The gift shop/cafe iswheelchair accessible. Although the first half of the tour is inaccessible due to astaircase, the second half in the studio is accessible.

Explore Beale Street

Then take time on your own to explore Beale Street, where you could dive into someBlues and bar-b-que, or take a short stroll to the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum.There’s plenty to do in this lively downtown scene.

Peabody Hotel (optional while visiting Beale Street)
